Building a membership website by customising Adobe Business Catalyst

Fraser McCulloch - Monday, May 14, 2012

Last year Platonik were approached to build a membership website for brands365.co.uk.

This would be a membership website where business owners would pay a joining fee to connect with other buyers and sellers in an trading/auction style platform.

This screencast is a case study of the business model and the customised Adobe Business Catalyst technology we used to realise the business.

We've got user managed web apps, we've hacked the commenting module to create an bidding style auction and we've got social media built into blog posts and comments. Oh and we also created their brand identity.

Platonik build luxury homes website

Fraser McCulloch - Wednesday, May 09, 2012

Platonik have designed, built and launched the website for luxury home developers in Troon, JC Morton Homes. Built on the Adobe Business Catalyst platform, the objective of the website is to raise awareness of the new properties they shall be developing in Ayrshire.

The secondary objective is to introduce their range of services and show case the vast experience they have in building commercial and residential properties.

The website has been built around what people are searching for online; so lots of locally optimised pages. We've also set up a news blog for the client to keep the site fresh with updates on the progress of the property developments.

Design, Build and Launch of Auberne Homes

Fraser McCulloch - Thursday, April 26, 2012

Platonik have recently completed the design, build and launch of the Auberne Homes website. This new property development concept is to enable home owners to choose a plot of land and either self build, purchase the building "shell" or a completed priority.

As our population ages, the homes shall be constructed in a future proof manner, hence the concept A Home For Life. This is the first location in which the concept shall be applied to.

The website project consisted of :

  • Brand and Logo
  • Website Design
  • Keyword research and copy writing
  • Design and build of the website on the Adobe Business Catalyst platform.

Thanks to our brilliant designer and best wishes to Auberne Homes with this innovative concept.

Platonik to build builders website

Fraser McCulloch - Thursday, April 19, 2012

Platonik have been hired to redesign and rebuild the website for Ayrshire property developer Viga Limited. We shall be freshing and modernising their corporate identity as well as building a website to showcase their services and portfolio of previous home building projects.

Here's the new corporate identity

Here's the older identity which we felt was rather outdated and the company name was rather difficult to read with the dot of the letter I situated above the letter V. A subtle change which should better communicate the client's brand.

Sample a Product with Adobe BC

Fraser McCulloch - Wednesday, April 11, 2012

We just created some Adobe Business Catalyst functionality to enable a client to sell sample products on their website. This functionality uses javascript, the existing ecommerce large product template and a secure webform.

The customer receives a follow up email 7 days after the sample order purchase to prompt them to purchase the tiles they need for their tiling project.

This is just a small example of how we build with business in mind.

Website for London Chartered Accountancy Practice

Fraser McCulloch - Tuesday, February 21, 2012

We've just completed both mobile and desktop websites for the launch of Chartered Accountants in London, Wagner Accountants.

The company have an existing Glasgow and Edinburgh base and this division shall focus on clients in the south.

The website is powered by Business Catalyst, naturally, and is the first mobile version of a website we've been asked to undertake. (there are still some tweaks on the mobile detection due to BC's hosting plans)

The purpose of the site is to communicate their expertise and key services but also to generate them business enquiries.

The site makes significant use of the categorised announcement modules and social media; with the blog set up to accept Facebook commenting and sharing on other networks.

The mobile version of the site compliments the main site design and our brief was "so we can show clients our site over dinner or in meetings"

Thanks to my guys for the great work and to Wagner's business success. The site is located at www.wagneraccountants.co.uk

Refrigeration and Air Con Engineers Website by Platonik

Fraser McCulloch - Thursday, November 17, 2011

We have just launched the new website for G2 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Ltd. G2 are an air conditioning company in Glasgow who work with many businesses to service, maintain and repair refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.

Built on the Adobe Business Catalyst platform, we undertook extensive research to find out what people were searching for on google and built the website around that. With over 100 pages of content focused around users, the site is a far cry from your typical small business website.

The business focus for G2 is to promote their service contracts. So we used ad rotators banners across all pages to communicate this service.

The site also has a strong call to action for website visitors to contact and make business enquiries. Many thanks to our virtual web team for realising this website.

New ecommerce product page and checkout for fashion brand

Fraser McCulloch - Friday, September 30, 2011

Our fashion brand client, Kennnett Online, recently commissioned Platonik to review their sales funnel so that they could better convert online sales.

Whilst their sales funnel had an industry standard conversion ratio, everyone wants to improve and convert more sales.

After extensively reviewing google analytics and doing some online usability testing, Platonik developed a new product page and a new checkout.

The New Product Page

The new functionality for the product page adds tabbed content about brand and product information, delivery and product reviews. We moved the call to action and bullet point description copy to the right hand side of the page.

The brand information tab also contains links to their social media property to enable prospects to reach out to the sales team.

Two Step Checkout

The previous checkout meant scrolling all the way down to page. Now the checkout is aligned horizontally. No scrolling. In addition the business owner will capture the user's contact details should they abandon the order before entering the card details. This will allow some abandoned orders to be retrieved and converted.
